Grip Size, Read by Hand, Not a Glove Chart

Glove size charts are a reasonable starting guess. They're not a substitute for actually measuring the hand that's going to hold the club.

Glove sizing and grip sizing solve different problems. A glove wraps around the whole hand and mostly cares about overall hand circumference. A grip only interacts with the fingers and palm in a specific way through the swing, which means two golfers with the same glove size can need noticeably different grip diameters.

What We Actually Measure

We measure finger length from the base of the palm to the tip of the middle finger, and palm width across the widest point. Those two numbers, together, predict grip comfort far better than a glove size conversion ever does.

Where Glove Charts Get It Wrong

A golfer with short, thick fingers and a golfer with long, narrow fingers can wear the exact same glove size while needing meaningfully different grip builds — one closer to an undersize, the other closer to a midsize with extra tape underneath.

The glove tells you about the outside of the hand. The grip cares about how the fingers actually close around it.

Wraps of Tape Matter as Much as the Base Grip

Two golfers can order the identical grip model and end up with different final diameters, because the number of tape wraps underneath changes the effective size in small, controllable steps. We record wrap count on the build ticket for exactly this reason.

What a Mismatched Grip Actually Costs You

A grip that's too thin can let the hands over-rotate through impact; too thick and it can quiet hand action more than intended. Neither shows up clearly on a launch monitor number — it tends to show up as inconsistent face angle at impact instead.

The Takeaway

A glove size is a fine place to start a conversation. It's not where we finish one. Direct hand measurement, recorded the same way every time, is what actually goes on the build ticket.

Get Your Hand Measured Properly

Grip size is checked by hand measurement during every fitting session, and standalone regrips.
